HONESTLY’S VERDICT
In a word: Homely
Food:  A good selection of traditional British fare – soups, sandwiches, burgers, salads, sharing platters and ‘comfort foods’ classics.   Where possible, ingredients and produce are Cornish sourced
Service:  Friendly, warm, welcoming with a smile and some good chat
Presentation:   Nice homely feel to the interiors with lots of natural light
Ambience:  Comfortable, homely and grounded
Location:  Street front on Falmouth’s high street
Value for money:   Choose any dish from their lunch selection for £4.95, or from the menu; just under £10 for a salad, burger or main, £6-£8 for a sandwich, and around £2 for a tea or coffee
Worth a visit?:  If you’re looking for that homely feel to your feed with great service and local produce then look no further

Fuel caught my eye as I walked through the main street of Falmouth whilst down in deepest darkest Cornwall, visiting my mother.

HONESTLY’S VERDICT
In a word: Génial!
Food:  Beautifully presented gourmet-style vegan, veggie and raw dishes, full of flavour and where possible organic ingredients
Service:  Attentive, friendly and great English
Presentation:  The restaurant itself isn’t going to win any style awards, the food on the other hand looks fantastic
Ambience:  The Saturday lunch time vibe was pretty laid back
Location:   A short walk from Bastille metro stop in the centre of Paris
Value for money:  This is beautiful food, well worth the €30 a head for a two course meal without booze
Worth a visit?:  When in Paris and seeking good vegetarian and vegan food, this has to be on your must-eat list

Gentle Gourmet came to my attention whilst searching for vegan restaurants for our weekend break in Paris, Fat Gay Vegan, Vegan Miam and Hey Rita all mention this great little find.

Located just down from Bastille Metro, Gentle Gourmet is somewhere you go for the food and the food alone; the restaurant decor and the views I found rather uninspiring, especially on a grey and cold January day.  And people definitely do go for the food so I’d recommend phoning in advance to book yourself a table at Gentle Gourmet as it gets busy at the weekend, especially for Sunday brunch.

In a word:  Hip
Food:  Freshly prepared brunch & lunch dishes, erring on the side of healthy…well, apart from the DIY donuts!
Service:  Cheery & attentive
Presentation:  White and blue enamelled tableware, funky mismatched decor
Ambience:   Buzzy little place
Location:  Side street off in the heart of Williamsburg, the Shoreditch of NY
Value for money:  Great, with menu items between $7.50 and $15 (£5 – £10), then add a tip of somewhere between 10% & 20%
Worth a visit?:  Definitely, I’ll certainly be popping back for the Brookes Breakfast Bowl when we’re next in NYC

We found this place thanks to the wonders of Four Square.  I’m always a bit sceptical of eateries my husband suggest, but on this occasion(!), he came up trumps and St. Balmain turned into my favourite place for food during our short stay in Williamsburg; consistently good food, prices great, easy to find – i’ll definitely make the effort again, if only for my Brookes Breakfast Bowl.
