HONESTLY’S VERDICT
In a word: Heaven
Food: Just what the foodie ordered – organic, locally sourced, fresh, homemade and mighty tasty!
Service: Friendly
Presentation:  Clean, simple and homely.  You don’t need fuss when the food speaks for itself
Ambience: Great hub for feasting with the family, or perhaps a romantic dinner overlooking the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountains or the Marina and Yacht Club
Location: Two Downtown and a Marina location – that’s both ends of town covered and both have great views
Value for money: You pay for quality and ethically sound ingredients.  It’s no more expensive than any other cafe or bistros out there
Worth a visit?: Of course, it’s my favourite place to eat – a go-to time and time again

Glass, Charlottenburg, Berlin

HONESTLY’S VERDICT
In a word:  Genius
Food:  Inventive, fresh, and with a story behind every dish
Service:  Enthusiastic, professional and friendly
Presentation:  Show stopping mixed with delicate natural art
Ambience:  Stylishly chilled
Location:  Beautiful Berlin, chic Charlottenberg, ugly 1960’s concrete building, cool industrial-gloss interiors 
Value for money:  6 course set menu: €45 – a bargain for such creative talent!
Worth a visit?:  Oh yes, if you value fine food, great service, surprises, story telling and cool surroundings

The second of our (recorded) eating adventures in Berlin and boy was a trip to Glass an adventure.  Glass first came to my attention through fellow foodie Suzie, of Foodie in Berlin, and then as a must-eat recommendation from Tommy at the wonderful street-food festival; Bite Club Berlin.  I’d liken Glass to a modern twist on the Mad Hatter’s tea party in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: a creative showcase with wine.

Okku, Dubai

HONESTLY’S VERDICT
In a word: Luxe
Food:  Amazing, one of my favourite fine-dining experiences
Service:  Serious, yet welcoming, friendly and fun
Presentation:   Faultless
Ambience:  Dark, almost mysterious, definitely cool
Location:  Number 1 Sheikh Zayed Road, Okku has THE address!
Value for money:  This is oriental fine dining at it’s best, so take a wallet full of cash, or better still, someone else’s!
Worth a visit?:  A must do in Dubai. Go on a Sunday night, be prepared to eat incredible food, spend a small fortune on booze and pull a sickie on Monday, as Sunday night is hedonistic!

Okku has a reputation in the UAE as one of the best places to eat whether you’re specifically after Japanese, or a fine dinning experience with ridiculously good food and mighty fine ‘O’ style cocktails to match.  The name Okku is synonymous with fine dining in Dubai and the Sunday night parties have a hedonistic reputation.
